It's 9am and you're dialling into a call with a client you've never met. The laptop's propped on a stack of books, the camera's looking up your nose, and the window behind you has turned your face into a silhouette. You've got good advice to give and no way to look like it.
The same gap shows up with video. Most of what a firm needs to say on camera is an update, an explainer, or the answer to a question every client asks eventually. None of it justifies booking a crew, so it doesn't get made. And the obvious alternative has a problem you've probably said out loud already: we'd buy the gear, use it twice, and it would end up in a cupboard. Turnkey Studio is built around that objection.

Everything is bolted onto one height-adjustable workstation on lockable wheels and left set, so there's nothing to configure between uses. Roll it in front of the logo wall, the team at their desks or a quiet corner, lock it, and record, sitting or standing. It runs off one power lead, with no batteries to charge.
A teleprompter sits on the lens, so you can read a script while looking straight down the camera, or talk off the cuff. One cable into your laptop also makes it the camera for Teams or Zoom, so every call looks better, not only what you record on purpose.

The kit
- 4K mirrorless camera with a fast prime lens, for the soft blurred background
- Two remote-controlled LED light panels, so you look the same at 8am and at 6pm
- Lens-mounted teleprompter
- Broadcast-quality microphone, on the camera or on a boom arm, whichever the shot needs
- Capture card, so the camera works as a webcam for Teams, Zoom and webinars
- Desk-mounted camera and light arm, plus a boom mic arm, all bolted to the workstation
- All cabling, mounts and a long power lead, so it rolls as one tidy unit
- Height-adjustable workstation on lockable wheels

Where it's running
In use since 2024.
The first Turnkey Studio went into a Melbourne finance firm in 2024, and it's still in use. They wanted regular content without booking us every time. So they record it themselves, updates from the people who run the firm and short explainers for their clients, then send the footage across and we edit it.
A second went into an accounting practice, and a third is built for another professional services firm. The pattern is the same each time: plenty to say on camera, not enough of it to justify a shoot day.
After the install
After we leave.
Recording is up to you, and the footage is yours. Send us the raw clips and we'll send back a finished video ready to post, quoted per video before we start, with no retainer and no minimum. A rough take is fine, because the edit tidies it up. You can also edit it yourselves.
The honest limit: this is for talking-to-camera content. A brand film, client testimonials or an event still need a crew, and we still film those.
When it does need a crew
Brand films, testimonials, recruitment and event coverage are a different job, with pre-production, a crew and a full edit behind them. That work sits on the video production page.

How much does a Turnkey Studio cost?
$5,500 ex GST / $6,050 inc GST, paid once. That covers the complete kit, the install, the tuning in your room and training for everyone who'll use it. There's no subscription and nothing ongoing, and the gear is yours. Editing afterwards is optional and quoted per video.
Won't it end up in a cupboard?
That's the failure it was designed around. It lives on wheels in the office instead of packed in a case, the settings never change, and recording takes four steps, so using it is never the harder option. We train everyone who'll use it and leave a one-page checklist on the wall. The first firm to get one, in 2024, is still using theirs.
Couldn't we buy the gear ourselves?
You could. None of it is secret. What you'd be taking on is choosing parts that work together, mounting and cabling them, getting the light, framing and sound right for your room, and teaching your people to use it. That work decides whether the thing gets used, and it's the part we do.
Do we need to know anything about cameras?
No. The camera, lights and sound are set once, at the install, and left alone. The routine is four steps, the checklist on the wall covers them, and we train everyone who'll use it, so a new starter can pick it up without asking anyone how.
Does it work for video calls as well as recordings?
Yes. One cable into your laptop makes it the camera for Teams or Zoom, and for webinars. If you spend half your week on calls, that's the part you'll use every day.
What happens if something stops working?
The gear is new, it's yours, and it carries the manufacturers' warranties. If something misbehaves, call us. We built it, so we're usually the quickest way to find out what's wrong, and if it needs a visit we'll quote that before we come.
What can't it do?
It's for talking-to-camera content: updates, explainers, answers to common questions, webinars and video calls. It won't replace a crew for a brand film, a client testimonial or an event. We still film those, and they're quoted separately.
