Brand story films

Your story, told by the people who live it.

A brand story film shows why your business exists and how it works, told by the people who run it, in their own words. We plan the story first, film without scripts, and cut one shoot for your website, LinkedIn and the other places you'll use it. Budgets run from $2,000 to $20,000 ex GST.

Most brand videos fail the same way. They list values nobody disagrees with, over footage of people smiling at laptops, and they could belong to any company. Viewers can tell within seconds.

The films that work are specific. A founder explaining why the business exists. A team in several cities describing the same way of working in their own words. A service most people never see, given a face. That specific, true detail is what makes a stranger trust you, and it's what we go looking for before we film anything.

How we make them

Story first, camera second.

We find the story before the shoot

A strategy conversation about who the film is for, what you want them to believe afterwards, and the true details that prove it. Read why video strategy comes first.

We interview, we don't script

A director has a real conversation with each person, so they sound like themselves. More on why the founder on camera beats the professional presenter.

We film the real place and the real people

Your office, your floor, your customers where they're happy to appear. No stock footage standing in for the business.

We cut one shoot for every place you'll use it

A main film for your website, plus shorter versions for LinkedIn, social, proposals and recruitment. See the repurposing pyramid.

You approve every cut

Nothing is published or used as a portfolio piece without your written approval.

What a brand story film costs

Brand films sit within our usual range of $2,000 to $20,000 ex GST. A founder interview in one location sits toward the bottom. Several people, several locations and a set of social versions sit toward the top. The strategy conversation comes first and is part of the quote.

Common questions

What founders and marketing leads ask.

How much does a brand story film cost?

Brand films sit within our usual range of $2,000 to $20,000 ex GST. A founder interview filmed in one location sits toward the bottom. A film with several people, several locations and a set of shorter versions for social sits toward the top. Every quote lists what's included, so you can see where the money goes.

How long should a brand video be?

Long enough to tell one story well, and no longer. That's usually a main film for your website, plus short versions cut from the same shoot for LinkedIn, social and email. Length follows the job: a homepage film can hold attention for longer than a clip in a social feed, so we cut each one for where it'll be watched.

Do we need a script?

No. Scripted brand films tend to sound like brochures. We plan the story first, then a director interviews the people in it and shapes their own words in the edit. People sound like themselves, which is the whole point.

Who should be in our brand film?

Usually the people who run the business and the people a client actually deals with. A founder speaking plainly is more convincing than a presenter hired for the day, even if the founder is nervous about it. We're used to filming people who'd rather not be on camera.

Where will we use it?

Your homepage and about page first, then LinkedIn, proposals, recruitment and the email signature of anyone who meets clients. We plan the shoot so one day of filming produces the main film and the shorter pieces those places need.
