Where we film

Video production in Sydney

Sydney is a short flight from the studio and the busiest market we film in outside home. We don't keep an office there. We keep something more useful: camera operators we've worked with and a director who runs the brief the same way in Barangaroo as he does in Belgrave.

The honest version of "we film in Sydney" is this. The strategy happens with Arek, usually by video call and in person when the shoot day makes the trip worth it. On the day, a Sydney-based operator we've vetted handles the camera, and Arek directs, either on the ground or on a live link when a second city in the same week pulls him elsewhere. The footage comes back to Melbourne and we cut it here. You get a local crew who knows the city's buildings and light, and one person carrying your story from the first conversation to the final frame.

Sydney's pull is corporate breadth. Financial services, professional firms, tech, and the national head offices that cluster in the CBD all commission video, and they tend to want it polished and on-brand. That's a good fit for a strategy-first approach, because the question with a Sydney corporate isn't whether they can afford a slick film. It's whether the film does a job worth the spend. We answer that in the workshop before we quote the shoot.

If your organisation runs offices in both Sydney and Melbourne, the two-city rollout is close to routine for us. We can film the Sydney leadership one day and be shooting in Melbourne the next, with both cuts sharing a look and a through-line so they read as one piece of communication.

What organisations here film

Corporate breadth, high on polish.

The Sydney briefs that reach us skew corporate: brand films for financial and professional services, recruitment and employer-branding pieces for firms competing hard for the same talent, executive and thought-leadership interviews, and event coverage for the conferences the city hosts. What ties them together is a high expectation on finish and a low tolerance for a film that looks good but changes nothing. Both are exactly what the strategy work is there to manage.

How a Sydney project runs

Directed from Melbourne, shot in Sydney.

Strategy first

We run the workshop by video call, or in person when Arek's flying up for the shoot anyway. Audience, message, channels, all settled before a crew is booked. The brief governs everything after it.

Sydney crew, on the day

A camera operator we've vetted and worked with shoots on location, with Arek directing on the ground or on a live link. You get someone who knows the city, running to a brief shaped in Melbourne.

Edit back in Melbourne

The footage comes home and we cut it at the studio. The person who understood your goals on day one makes the calls in the edit, so nothing slips between the brief and the final file.
